Mammoth

Today I am going out of town, I am going on a 6 hour car trip to mammoth lakes, california. Its going to be snowing and I am expected to get quite a bit of skiing in. I hope we don't get snowed in like last year, it took hours for a snow plow to dig us out. The snow was up to the second floor balcony, but it was so fluffy that if one tried to step in it, they'd fall into a 5 foot hole. The weather report says that it is supposed to snow for a long time, and I hope that the mountain is not closed due to a blizzrad. I have to go, but I have internet access at the condo and I will try to post another blog. KOT an' GMAS!

(software, firewire interface, cords microphone... the whole enchilada!), 430 dollars which is going straight to the guitar fund and some pink floyd jammies (pj's). On top of all of that, I am alive. Thats a nice enough presant.I also made a pop filter out of new nylon panty hose. I wasin't going to pay 10 bucks on a pop filter... pah! Sattelite

Today my dad finally got our family sattelite T.V. He had been thinking about ditching those amish (I heard that the owners were amish- don't know it for a fact) crooks over at adelphia for some time. I don't really care for TV as much as I used to. Now that I have found music, I have something better to do. Speaking of music, check this out!http://www.last.fm/user/YourCousinKevin/
That shows what songs I listen to on the computer. I wish it could show the songs I play on vinyl. Otherwise, there would be a lot more beatles and Queen listed.

Christmas is just around the corner and I just can't wait. I've got my shopping done and now I can just relax for a bit. I'll tell you how my christmas turns out. GMAS and KOT!

Better now.

Ahh I am finally better now. I was sick from friday until monday, which was not a very fun way to start my winter break. It feels so nice not having a fever.

Today was one of those days when you don't really want to go anywhere or really do anything. Just stay at home. I managed to clean up my room, which was a great feat. My closet was a really big mess, and I am glad that its gone.

My grandfather had surgery on monday for his hernia. I've been told that all went well. I should go visit him now that I am no longer sick.

Nothing to talk about, really. Fresh out of ideas.

Extremely sick. Boo-hoo.

Sorry for not posting for a few days, I have been extremely sick for the past few days. I got a fever of 102.6 degrees, a sore throat, and it seems like I am constantly throwing up. It sucks really bad that I had to go to school to take my math final, but I did well and got an 82%. Now that I have a B average, I can finally start driving (not any time soon, however). I really hope this isn't the bird flu. Even if it is, I am going to beat it within a few days.

Oi, mikey! Honey does help the throat. Thanks for the remedy... I try to use natural substances to cure colds and whatnot. Egg nog also helps a little.

Gmas!

Smells like the holiday season...

Wow, what a great week so far. On sunday, my mother and I made some gingerbread men. It is a tradition that my mom has started, and she has been making hundreds year after year since the 80's I think. She always makes the same design, too. I proposed a new one, not that the one she has is bad, but it was quickly denied. She only uses green and red frosting, and chocolate chips for the eyes. I was on eyes duty. This year my mom even let me do the part of the green frosting- what a privilage! She has great pride in the gingerbread men, and I did not let her down.

I cannot believe that friday after school is the start of my winter break. This year has flown by so far, it seems like just yesterday that the school year began. The bad this is is that all of my finals are after "winter recess" except my math final, which means I have to study on my vacation. Yuck.

I have to go do some homework, so I have to call it a day. GMAS, and check my second review on my other blog.

R.I.P.....

Today was John Lennon's death day, 25th anniversary. It was cloudy and cold, it seemed to suit the occasion. Wore my Lennon shirt. All I can say is thanks, John. We all love you. Nothing else to say. I'm too sad.

Let It Bleed

I just got Let It Bleed by the Rolling Stones. It is one of the best albums I have ever listened to. I urge all of you viewers to go buy it ASAP or if you already have it, listen to it now. I can't say enough good things about this record. I love it. I was never that big of a stones fan, but I think I have fallen in love with their music. I also got Too Late the Hero by John Entwhistle. Another great album. Keith Moon's album was basically a let down. I like it, but it is not as good as I thought it would be. I think I need to listen to it over a few times, I expect it will be like the time I got Piper at The Gates Of Dawn by Pink Floyd, it just takes getting used to. Speaking of Pink Floyd, Atom Heart Mother is my new favorite album by the Pink Floyd. Summer '68 is my favourite track. A Night At The Opera by Queen is very good, but I don't think it is quite as good as the Jazz album. Just a lil' side-note: Freddie Mercury looked a bit funny without a mustache, huh. I love him the same, but I like the stash better than the clean shave. RIP Freddy.

Well, those are my albums of the week. If I buy an album a week, I figure I can write a review in my blog (More in depth than the one I just put, of course). As a matter of fact, I might make a separate blog for it all together. What a splendid idea. I'll post a review once or twice a week, so check in often!

Ohh yay I have LSD two weeks in a row! (late start day for the slow). It is also on my hard day which is very nice since I don't have to be in my jazz class as long as I normally am. It is thirty minutes shorter, I think. I never thought I'd say this, but hooray for LSD! Wow, I need to stop cracking those lame jokes... Thanks for reading! GMAS!

P.S. I cannot wait for the loop of the december 4th show, I still haven't seen it.

Friday.

Ohh my this week seemed very very long. Thank goodness it is over and now I can finally get some sleep. Today was very nice, it rained and was cloudy. That's my ideal weather. It was on the cold side, but that it ok. I got some new batteries for the pedals my uncle gave me and fixed the one that did not work. It sounds very nice. Sometime this weekend I am going to a friend's house to jam. I can't wait. Well I have to cut it short because I have a doctor's appointment (eww, on a friday) because of my athsma. It isn't severe, but it will make a difference when I start playing basketball again. Sorry, I have to go now! GMAS!

Tuesday.

Today was very nice. I had LSD (late start day), which means I start school at 8:40 instead of 7:00. I was there at 8 because that was the latest ride to school I could get. I don't really mind being there early, it was nice and quiet. Perfect for listening to music and doing some studying on a bench. Spanish was a lot more fun because everyone was more awake than usual and everyone participated more. I have a B+ in that class, but it will soon be an A. I have an 89.34%. So close. English went suprisingly well today also. I got 100% on a vocabulary test. I was assigned a 5 paragraph essay, which is about The Lord of the Flies. It is a very good book, but I think I would enjoy it more of we diddin't examine it closely and write stuff on it. It makes the book boring, bland, and redundant (in a sense that we read and re-read everything multiple times). But ther is a plus side, I can write it on any topic I choose. That makes things much easier. Jazz band was boring, as usual. The music I play is so elementary, in the key of Bb, 4/4 time, and a swing beat at 120 beats per minute. All of the songs are starting to sound the same to me and next class I am being graded on a song I knew how to play the second or third time I have looked at it. I am thinking about dropping that class to do independent study music, where I can just go into a practice room and play guitar and/or trombone for an hour and a half. That would be nice, then I would be able to teach myself to read music on guitar and to work on chords, scales, and theroy while still ebing able to play some of the trombone stuff that my teacher is having me learn. Plus, "Mose" (I don't want to say his real name), the teacher of the orchestra, both choirs, wind ensemble and the Ellington band (a jazz band that only plays duke ellington music) has a break during that time so if I need help for any reason, I can ask him. I like him, he actually teaches us and helps us improve instead of telling us to do something without any useful help or relevant suggestions on how to play our music. The teacher I have now is an idiot, we have 2 trombones, 5 trumpets, and about 8 saxophones and wonders why he can't hear any trombones. Hmm maybe it is because we are outnumbered like hell. He constantly tells us that we are going to be tested on something, wether it be a scale, intervals, a chart or solo, and never lives up to his word. Now that I have vented my anger, I can talk about other things. Math was easy today, we are starting a chapter and I already know about 90% of it. I should do well on the test. After school, I bummed a ride from my freind derek for a ride home. He's a nice guy, and he says he is interested in playing guitar. He is insanely good at violin, so I think he will catch on pretty quick. After I got home, I sat on the couch and watched a little T.V. and had my lunch (at 4:30). I ended up doing a lot of homework, which is why I am able to be blogging right now. I just realized that there are somewhere around 16 days of school until winter vacation. I cannot wait. I can't wait for the recording stuff and the clothes that I need very badly. I have grown about 3 inches this year and now some of my shirts are getting too small, including the one I got when I saw the Who at the Hollywood Bowl, August 9th 2004. I will never forget that day. Well, I hope all you bloggers are feeling as good as I am. Keep on truckin' and GMAS!

Thanksgiving

OK, first of all, sorry for not posting for over a week. Hope you don't mind.

I had only three days of school this week due to thanksgivin'. We finally switched seats on history. Thank god, I was isolated in the back where it was boring and dull. But now I don't sit near my teacher, which is bad because we used to have some fun debates.

My brother flew home from college, which was very pleasant. I don't see him much anymore so when he is home, it is very fun. We get along very well now, we don't really quarrel about anymore.

Thanksgiving was awesome. My mom made the best turkey I have ever tasted. It was a blast, but my grandfather and grandmother were unable to make it for a reason I do not know. It felt kinda empty without them there. Luckily my other grandmother made it, and she gave me 20 dollars which I greatfully accepted. My aunt mary brought three pies, one apple and two pumpkin. She makes the best pie. Take my word for it. I love the leftovers, espically my mom's home made cranberry sauce. Ok ok thats enough about the food. Uggh I gained 5 pounds in the span of 3 days. I'll have to work that off next week.

I promise to post more often. Thanks to all who gave me comments in the past.

My friend the Mantis.

Yesterday was an exciting day. When I came home from school, I noticed something on my dad's tire. As I looked closer, I could see it was a white praying mantis that was about 1 inch and a half long. They are pretty rare around where I am, I have seen only 2 in the wild previously. I picked him up and put him in a shrub right next to my garage and he has been there ever since. I hope he eats some of the spiders that make webs all over my side yard.

During my english class, we went to the computer lab and did a ROP (reigonal occupation program) survey. they showed the classes they offer, and the jobs that you may want. I am supposed to be a fisherman, ship captain or ship engineer. I would love to work at sea, but it showed that the employment for that job would go down 25% and the pay would go down. It is modest pay, but I would be happy with it.

Later that night I had a jazz concert. I had a solo and nailed it.

Today we had a huge discussion about American imperialism. I am normally not too interested in politics simply because I can't vote, but I really enjoyed it. Our whole class (like 35-40 kids) had to make a policy about foreign affaris. It turned out well, people agreed with my opinions and thoughts.

Changing my life with a wave of a hand.

To lead a better life I need my love to be here... Here, making each day of the year Changing my life with a wave of her hand Nobody can deny that there's something there There, running my hands through her hair Both of us thinking how good it can be Someone is speaking but she doesn't know he's there I want her everywhere and if she's beside me I know I need never care But to love her is to need her everywhere Knowing that love is to share Each one believing that love never dies Watching her eyes and hoping I'm always there I want her everywhere and if she's beside me I know I need never care But to love her is to need her everywhere Knowing that love is to share Each one believing that love never dies Watching her eyes and hoping I'm always there To be there and everywhere Here, there and everywhere.

Here, there and everywhere by The Beatles. It is one brilliant song. I have beel listening to it on repeat for a bout 10 mins. now. I cannot get enough of it, and it also expresses my thoughs about someone.

I wish John Lennon was not dead. Whenever I think about him being shot, it almost brings tears to my eyes... who would do such a thing? One can only imagine what life would be with him around, I think we'd be one step closer to world peace. And loads of great songs to listen to. One can only imagine.

Logging off on a sad note,
-Kevin

Pradtice turkey-day.

Sorry I did not follow up on my blog, I went over to my cousin's house again and slept over. We were playing computer games until 3:30 in the morning. There are two beds in the guest room. I slept in one and my cousin slept in the other, but when I woke up, I noticed he was sleeping in his room. I think he must have been sleepwalking, every time I sleep over he does that. Creepy.

My mom is practicing turkey cooking for thanksgiving. Lots of family members are coming over to eat and it should be a nice evening. Keep on bloggin'!

Saturday.

This week has been very plain. Yesterday was nice though, I had a day off due to veteran's day and I spent it at my cousin's house. We played computer games and listened to music. I had to leave because they were seeing the King Tut exhibit. I have already seen it, it was quite a let-down because not even a single part of the tomb was there. I guess when they brought the tomb to LA in the 70's, a hunk fell off of it and they vowed to never put King Tut himself "on tour." It was nice seeing all of his golden necklaces and the jars they put his organs in (tee-hee).

Oh, a pleasant suprise walked in through the door just now. My aunt Mary is here, so I am afraid I will have to cut my blog short. I expect to post another entry after my trombone lesson.

Breakfeasty in Los Angeles.

Another sunday. I don't know if it is me, but the whole day has seemed like one long morning. Listened to "Alan's Phsychadelic Breakfast" on the Meddle album by Pink Floyd. Hence the name of the post. I bought some more records today and I am seeing growth of my collection. Jazz by Queen, The Doors by The Doors, Rough Mix by Pete Townshend/Ronnie Lane, and Wish You Were Here by Pink Floyd. I finally got my needles ordered from record outlet. One to replace the one I broke, one to replace the one I never had. Should cost me a bit of money though ($70 about). I don't care, the recording equipment I need (want) should be a gift at christmas. If any of you relatives are reading this, you know what to go for this christmas.

Tried to post another picture but can't. Try back later, I have a really cool picture in mind.
Give me a shout!

Summin' up the week.

Here is an old picture of me I found. I am having a nice chat with a parrot at a zoo in Hawaii two (or three?) years back. I have much longer hair now and I was a bit chubbier then. Enjoy. I will post some more old photos of me later.

I realized that I have not posted for a while. I am sorry folks, I have been really busy with math and spanish. The studying did pay off, I got an 84 percent on my math test. I think I will do better on the next test I recieve (I hope!). Give me a shout!

New shoes.

Ahh, thank god this week is over. I am really tired. I spent 6 hours typing a 650 word essay and watching the motorcycle diaries, only to receive 5 extra credit points. I don't even think that is more than one homework assignment. Then some other kid turns his in, 300 words maximum one one page double spaced and he gets the same amount of points. Correct me if I am wrong, but I think I was ripped off. I should get at least get double the extra credit right? I put in much more effort and insight than he did. I do not se how anyone could sum up how they felt about that movie and what they were exposed to in 300 words. It is not possible.

Enough of that pointless ranting and raving. I have noticed that Christmas is right around the corner. I hope I don't get any golf stuff this year. My garage is full of it, and I haven't been able to play for a few months due to a knee injury, surgery on toes, a broken thumb and back pain. I got a new pair of shoes, this time they're 15.5s. I sure hope my feet stop growing soon or else I will need to custom order my shoes again. I am greatful that they finally have some shoes in my size. I was hitting at a simulator at Copeland's, (Where I got my shoes tonight) and it said I hit 288 yards. I had never hit that far in my life, so I might get into playing again. This time, without a cart. I need to shed a few pounds anyway. Over the summer, I gained 10 and I feel really unhealthy and gross. I am trying to convince my dad to join a gym which is what he is going to do (I hope).

Halloween is in a few days as well. This year, I am not letting anything get vandalized. Last year, the Durango was keyed. The year before that, the VW westfalia was egged and the paint was chipped off. The year before that, all of the windows on the Durango were shattered. This year, no fucking rich, snot nosed little shit is going to cost my family money. I am just going to sit in the driveway with a golf club or baseball bat or something with some music on after the trick-or-treaters are gone. It is going to be an all-night stakeout. I will have a camera on hand to get the license plate of the perpetrator of a crime if there is one. This time they'll pay. Literally.

I could write more, but I am tired. I will try to post tomorrow.

-Kevin
